Floating plants for aquariums

Floating plants

All the floating plants, apart from being decorative inside aquariums, they can also provide food for some species de peces as well as other functions for the well-being of the fish. They also provide good health for the fish because these are the responsible for consuming nitrates very harmful to the aquarium inhabitants. They are very easy to maintain and there are several types you can choose from.

La azolla or floating fern it is very curious for its peculiarity. The color of the plant depends on the amount you receive. If the blueberry is in the shade, it tends to be green and when exposed to a lot of sunlight it can turn a deep red color. They are perfect for keeping algae in the aquarium at bay as it blocks them.

El java moss It is a rootless aquarium plant that clings to uneven stones and other rough surfaces within the aquarium. It does not need much sun because they grow with temperatures between 16 to 26 degrees centigrade making it a floating plant ideal for tanks or large aquariums. They are usually especially recommended when you have young because they serve as protection.

El fontinalis moss It is very similar to Java moss, although it differs in its distinctive deep green color. It has small leaves along its stems and grows well in dim, bright light. Unlike most floating aquarium plants, this moss does best when the water is slightly acidic and can tolerate a pH level of up to 8.

La riccia plant is a good decorative option as it contrasts well with most other plants in the aquarium, being a bright green. The fine streaks of riccia mix to form a large mass that can either float on the water or be tied to a hard object in the aquarium, in which it will be wrapped. It needs a lot of sunlight to live.
