Flower horn fish

El flower horn fish, is a fish that is within the genus Cichlasoma, native to the South American continent and that has been the result of a cross between previously selected specimens.

At this time, this species is very fashionable in Asia, since according to indications of the Feng Shui it is a fish that attracts good luck and prosperity. The hump found on his forehead is associated with the forehead that has the Chinese god of longevity, while some parts of his body are considered as divine creatures. The argument used by these people who associate it with feng shui, is that the larger the hump or bump on their head, the more prosperity, luck and longevity the person who has this fish will have.

The Flower horn can grow up to 30 centimeters and can live between 10 and 12 years of age if it is in optimal conditions. Generally, these fish feed on worms, other smaller fish, earthworms, shrimp and even minced meat. It can also be fed with spinach, lettuce, and peas.

Although it can be quite aggressive at first, it can create a strong and deep bond with its owners. I recommend that if you want to have this fish in your aquarium, keep in mind that it is very territorial.

If we want to have another flower horn in the same aquarium, it is advisable to keep them separate at the beginning, but close so that their faces can be seen, and little by little, over time, try to mix them and experiment to see if they get along.
