Most Common Diseases in Cold Water Fish

As we saw previously, cold water fish, are characterized by having rounded shapes, many are orange, white or black. The movements they carry out in the water are quite calm and the care that we must take with them is quite basic and easy to carry, so they can live for many years by our side.

It is very important that before making the decision to have an aquarium at home, you are quite clear that all the animals that we bring to our home, requires a special care and attention, so we must be 100 percent committed to them.

As we have always mentioned, it is very important that we daily observe the behavior and state of our aquatic animals to know if there is any type of change in their physical condition or in their way of swimming with respect to other fish. In this way, we can know if they are sick or if they suffer from some type of virus that can end up infecting other animals.

Some more common diseases and common that we can find in cold water fish are:

  • The white point: this is a type of parasite that adheres to the skin of the fish and that is originated, very frequently by a new fish that enters the tank. When one of our fish suffers from this parasite, it tries to remove it by rubbing its body against the stones at the bottom of the aquarium.
  • Deviated spine: This type of disease is caused by a lack of vitamin C in our animal's diet, so it is important to learn about the foods that have this vitamin and add it to our fish's diet.
  • Fin rot: It is caused by a bacterial infection.
  • Panting on the surface: It can be caused by a disease or simply by a poor condition of the aquarium water.
